Backup guide

Keep a separate copy of the records that matter to you

Local records put your personal history on your device. They also make it useful to have a separate backup before a device change, reinstall, or other disruption. Stakphase includes JSON and CSV export options and a restore workflow. Understanding the purpose of each file helps you preserve your information without assuming that a readable spreadsheet is the same thing as a complete app backup.

Choose a file for the task

JSON is a structured data format; CSV arranges exported information into rows and columns. A CSV file can be useful when reviewing tabular records outside the app. A file intended for restoration has a different job: it needs to preserve the structure expected by the restore workflow.

Use the backup file supported by that workflow. Do not assume that changing a file extension, or saving a spreadsheet as JSON, creates a valid restoration file.

Save a copy somewhere you control

After exporting, check where the file was saved and whether you can find it again. A copy left only on the device you are replacing may not help if that device becomes unavailable. Choose a destination that fits your own storage and access needs.

The export contains personal records. Before using a shared folder, email attachment, or another storage service, consider who can access the file at that destination.

Keep the original backup intact

If you want to explore an export in another tool, work on a copy. Manual edits can change values, units, dates, or the structure that an app expects. Keeping the original intact gives you a clear reference when you need to check what was exported.

A CSV edited in a spreadsheet should be treated as your working document. It should not automatically replace the backup you intend to use for restoration.

Read the restore information before proceeding

Before restoring, check the file you selected and read the information presented by the app. Make sure you understand how the operation affects the records already on the device. If the file is unfamiliar or has been edited, return to an original backup instead of trying to repair it by guessing.

After the operation, review the history. Check recognizable protocols and entries so you can compare the result with the records you expected.

Treat exports as separate from app lock

App lock adds an access step inside Stakphase. An exported file is outside that interface and depends on the protection of its destination. The lock should not be understood as a claim that exported JSON or CSV files are encrypted or protected wherever they are stored.

Keep backups organized and review whether old copies are still needed. If you share a file, check its contents and recipient before sending it.

Current availability

Stakphase is in internal testing. Public downloads and purchases are not available yet. This guide describes the current export and restore purpose without promising cloud backup, automatic synchronization, or a paid backup tier. Tracking does not require a mandatory account.
